Chip keys

A transponder car key is a key that uses transponder technology to control access and starting the car. It is equipped with an integrated electronic chip that communicates with the car's electronic system to authorize or deny access and engine starting.

When the transponder key is inserted into the car's ignition switch, the electronic chip in the key sends a unique signal to the car's electronic system. If the signal matches that stored in the car's electronic system, the system allows the engine to start. If the signal does not match the stored one, the electronic system refuses to start the car. This makes transponder car keys more secure and harder to hack than traditional keys
